Ian Schrager’s new hotel on the lower East Side in New York opened in June 2017. A “very relevant, compelling, innovative and edgy” Hotel according to Schrager. The hotel has self-check in, and no room service. The design is super chic, with restaurants (one of them being Jean George’s Public Kitchen), lush gardens and, in the rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a nightclub in the basement, that is called Public Arts with film screenings, dance, theater, music art and comedy, that evolves into a nightclub.

Schrager plans to open other Public Hotels.
