Located near Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island is the luxurious eco-conscious Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. Accessible only by seaplane, helicopter or boat, the privately-owned resort is open seasonally (mid-May to end-September) to guests from all over the world. The resort is named after Clayoquot Sound, the 100km wide inlet of the Pacific Ocean on which it is located. The sound consists of a diverse collection of inlets, islands and old growth forest. The 600-acre resort is committed to protecting the area’s delicate ecosystem and in 2001, the resort embarked on a Juvenile Salmon Project and Habitat Restoration to repair environmental damage and habitat depletion caused by humans, as well creating new salmon spawning habitat and restoring native stocks to river systems on and around the resort property. As a result of this, it’s possible to view the salmon during the fall spawning season. Clayoquot Wilderness Resort also offers a wide range of marine, land and heli-adventures as a well as gourmet cuisines and restorative wellness treatments at their Healing Grounds Spa. Reserve one of their 25 tents for a luxurious all-inclusive experience.
